About Us

Plattsburgh BTC is a family owned bitcoin mining operation that started in 2015 by renting out data processing power to clients in order to make mining, an energy and resource intensive task, more accessible and easy. We started in an apartment in 2015 and quickly moved to a larger space in 2016 in order to access more power (after tripping the circuits several times). However, we are in the process of moving again since that space was maxed out at 26 kW. We've been able to keep things affordable by leveraging cheap electricity and scale. Plattsburgh is ideally situated for cryptocurrency mining as it has some of the cheapest electric rates in the country and has a cool climate.

Today, we've expanded our operation to a cloud mining platform specializing in bitcoin and (soon) other cryptocurrencies. We believe in the philosophy of cryptocurrency and want to advance its adoption through ease of access to its production and investment. Come mine with us!

Timeline

2015

First setup in a spare bedroom. Learned this stuff makes a lot of heat. Good for the winter though.

2016

Move in to the warehouse! Got 220v power coming through and good ventilation.

2017

After the purchase of a couple of S9's. Had to make more space for more next-gen equipment since we were at our electric capacity! In 2018, much more upgrading will be possible since we'll have more space in the new build out.

I'm passionate about justice and the right of healthcare for all; this is what originally got me interested in Bitcoin. I became painfully aware of how the banking system games the poor, how there is little accountability in this system, and this line of thought forced me to consider what exactly gives the US dollar value. I suppose there are a number of unpalatable truths about this, but one is clear: technically speaking, aside from faith, nothing. This drove me to start Plattsburgh BTC in 2015. Apart from this, I graduated from Georgetown University with an MS in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and am currently pursuing an MD, MBA and Master of Public Health from St. George's University on the beautiful island nation of Grenada. So while medicine is my "first love," so to speak, cryptocurrency is designed to give everyone a fair shot, not just the privileged few. Which is why Plattsburgh BTC exists: to give everyday people a chance to try bitcoin mining and to help those interested learn the ropes.
